Vacation Home — Vikas Nagar, Dehradun

Nestled on a sprawling 1-acre (50000 square feet) site in the lush foothills of Vikas Nagar, this 5500 square feet family retreat is designed to be both a timeless escape and a celebration of its Himalayan context.

With unobstructed views of the Nanda Devi mountain range, the home is thoughtfully oriented to embrace the ever-changing moods of the snow-capped peaks — most notably from the double-height staircase volume and the expansive living room glazing.

The architecture strikes a balance between clean contemporary geometry and tactile warmth. Flat roofs, deep overhangs, and sharp edges define the building’s silhouette, while charcoal-framed windows, neutral-toned cladding, and minimalist metal railings contribute to a crisp, modern aesthetic. The upper floor extends into a shaded balcony — a perfect vantage point for taking in the distant ridgelines and crisp valley air.

Designed as a vocational home for extended stays, the house focuses on openness, flow, and comfort. Wide glazed openings blur the boundaries between inside and out, connecting the interiors to manicured lawns, a private pool deck, and future plans for a water feature and terrace garden.

In spirit, this project is about slow living in the mountains — where architecture quietly frames the view, respects the land, and creates space for memories that last a lifetime.
